Congratulations to WEAI Past President David Card

One of three recipients of the 2021 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel

Card is known for his studies that continue to influence current debate, as they question assumptions about the impact of immigration on native-born U.S. workers and the effect of minimum wage increases on domestic job growth, as well as his contributions on inequality, education, and job training.

He was elected WEAI Vice President in 2013, serving on the Board for five years including as President in 2015-2016. His Presidential Address, given at the 2016 Annual Conference in Portland, "What Gets In? Editorial Decision-making at Top Economics Journals" with coauthor Stefano DellaVigna was ultimately published in The Review of Economics and Statistics:

David Card, Stefano DellaVigna; What Do Editors Maximize? Evidence from Four Economics Journals. The Review of Economics and Statistics 2020; 102 (1): 195–217. doi: https://doi.org/10.1162/rest_a_00839.

It was a joy to work with Professor Card during his tenure on the Board, and we join in the chorus of congratulations on his much deserved recognition with this award!
